Accessibility Statement
What we test, what we know is still difficult, and how to tell us about a barrier.
Draft awaiting board approval
Our commitment
Friends of Cleveland Park wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible. We build and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA as our working target. That is the standard we test against; it is not a certification or a claim of third-party conformance review.
What we have tested
Testing carried out on 18 September 2026 covered:
- Automated rule checks with axe-core 4.10.2 against WCAG A and AA rules on the home page, Who We Are, Get Involved, Donate, the tree campaign, the events list, an event page, and Updates. No violations were reported in those runs.
- Keyboard-only use of the site, including the mobile menu, which can be opened, closed with the Escape key, and returns focus to the button that opened it.
- Layout at 320, 390, 768, 1024, and 1440 pixels wide and at 200% text zoom, with no sideways scrolling.
- Form labels that stay visible, errors announced inline and in a summary, and focus moved to the first problem.
- Reduced-motion settings, which switch off animated movement and show final states immediately.
- Pages with images blocked, so alternative text and layout still make sense.
Automated checks cannot find every barrier. We have not yet completed a structured manual audit with screen-reader users, and that remains planned work.
Known limitations
- Donations are completed on Donorbox, a third-party service whose pages we do not control. If any part of that flow is difficult to use, email us and we will help you give another way.
- Some archived photographs were inherited from the previous site. Their descriptions are written from what is visible, and a few images are still awaiting confirmation of who and what they show.
- This statement describes the website only. It does not describe physical access to Cleveland Park, its paths, parking, or facilities, which are managed by the City of Greenville.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, email friendsofclevelandparkgvl@gmail.com and describe the page and what happened. A volunteer will read it. We are a volunteer organization, so we cannot promise a response time, but we do want to know.
Review
This statement was prepared on 18 September 2026 and is a draft for board review. We intend to repeat the checks above and update this page whenever the site changes substantially.
